HOW THEY'RE MADE
These huggers (a.k.a. koozies) are hand-made one at a time of solid hardwood. Most are specifically designed to accommodate long-neck beer bottles but we offer some designs to fit 12oz cans. Each hugger is turned on a wood lathe and then finished by hand. Some designs are sanded smooth and hand painted with custom graphics. Other designs are distressed and decorated to create an authentic vintage look.
Do they work well? Absolutely yes. Wood is a good insulator that keeps your drink cold, even better than some foam koozies. If your beer is not cold when using this hugger you're not drinking fast enough :) I personally love using them.
Ever try a new beer only to realize it does not have a twist-off cap and you do not have an opener handy? The built-in stainless steel opener on the bottom takes care of that party foul.
A BUILT-IN OPENER
The diameter of long-neck bottles vary from one beer brand to another. In addition, the bottles are not perfectly round. The simplest route would have been to make the opening big enough to fit the largest size bottle but this would have resulted in a poor fit for smaller bottles.
My solution compensates for the different size bottles by incorporating spring-loaded stainless steel bearings on the inside of the hugger. The ball bearings adjust outward, allowing most traditional long-neck bottles to fit just right.
HOW THEY WORK
THE FINISH
Each hugger is top-coated with five coats of clear polyurethane inside and out. In addition, the bottom half of the inside is coated with a industrial-grade waterproof black coating. The result is excellent protection from bottle condensation.
